These photos show before and after views of the brachiopod Camerisma.
When picked up in the field, many fossils look drab or unattractive.
However, washing and careful removal of any remaining matrix can
reveal the hidden beauty of the fossil and show its true form. Cleaning
is also very important for showing characters needed for identification
and determining orientation.
