Kope Formation

The Kope Formation (equivalent to the Clays Ferry
Formation and known as the
Eden Formation in older texts) is the lowest formation of the Cincinnatian
stage
of the Upper Ordovician. It is dominately shale with very small lenses of
skeletal
limestone throughout
This album will focus on fossils from a series of
outcrops in the Carrollton area
of Carroll County, Kentucky. The Kope and its equivalents have numerous
exposures throughout northern Kentucky, southwest Ohio and southeast Indiana.
