Fossil Butte National Monument. The ridge to the upper
right is the
layer the fossil fish were discovered in. There are free lectures from
8AM until 7 PM at the monument. Also free is a recommended walking trail
2.5 miles long. No collecting of anything is allowed on the monument
property. The store at the monument sells books, maps, post cards, fish
plates and t shirts. The monument is about 6 miles west of Kemmerer,
Wyoming. The monument is operated by the U. S. Park Service.

Paddle fish, gar fish, stingray, turtle, and alligators have been found
in the local formations. The park operators are very versed in the
Eocene geologic record.
