Worker is driving wedging shives into the layer after
carefully
inspecting the layer for falts/fracture lines. Some of the splitting
shives are 3 feet long. Chizels are not as commonly used as one
would think. A square flat shovel is one of the handiest tools as well.
Meet Jim Tynsky, owner of this quarry. Jim is a second
generation
fish digger. You may have met him and his brother Duane at a Tucson
show, or other large show around the world. Note the warm coat, it was
28 degrees when the Sun came up on June 13th.
