Clayey shell hash limestone in water

After one week immersed in water, this is what a slab of clayey shell
hash limestone looked like. The non-calcareous clayey matrix slakes
when wet. Reddish iron oxide cement is irregularly distributed through
the matrix, however, and the iron-bearing limestone does not readily
disintegrate in water.
