Redeposited limestone clasts, San Salvador Island, Bahamas
This photo shows a Quaternary limestone on San Salvador
Island in
The Bahamas that is being eroded by crashing waves. The resulting
limestone clasts are quickly rounded and redeposited in a modern layer
of lithoclastic limestone. Rounded limestone clasts in the conglomerate
and limestone unit at I-170 may have formed by a similar process.
