Patch reefs next to San Salvador Island, Bahamas
This shallow subtidal zone offshore from San Salvador
Island, The
Bahamas, supports several isolated patch reefs. The modern patch
reefs are largely coral, whereas the algal mounds in the Worland are
just that--algal. Nevertheless, there is a superficial resemblance. The
Worland algal mounds were probably deposited in deeper water than
this.
