Rooted limestone subunit of Worland Limestone
Upper part of Worland Limestone. Barry Sutton is holding
grass out
of the way of the purple zone, whose color is caused by oxidation of
carbonaceous material in root molds. At the top of the Worland the root
molds are open because material filling them slaked away during modern
weathering.
