In the distance
are overpasses of I-70 and its offramps and onramps. The vertical
portion of the highway cut is formed by the resistant Worland Limestone.
Underlying beds would not have been exposed here (or anywhere else
in eastern Missouri) were it not for the highway excavation and the
“protection” provided by the Worland.
