2003 has been the 250th anniversary of the publication
of the book
Species Plantarum by Carolus Linnaeus. This 1753 book is known
as
the starting point for the botanical binomial nomenclature that we still use
today. The Missouri Botanical Garden Library, in the Monsanto Building,
put together a display of this and other historic books associated with it
from its Rare Book Collection in celebration of this event.
