Geology of the Ozarks, part 7

Bruce Stinchcomb

No rock record of the Permian Period of the Paleozoic Era or the Triassic or Jurassic Periods
of the Mesozoic Era is known from the Ozarks. Cretaceous rocks are known from deposits
of the the Gulf of Mexico when it came into southeastern Missouri. The best known fossil fauna
of that incursion is that of the Owl Creek Formation exposed near Ardeola Missouri. No mention
is made in the video of the Chronister site, the home of the Missouri Dinosaur . Some interesting
fossils and information relating to this site can be seen at the Bollinger County Missouri Museum
of Natural History in Marble Hill Missouri.
