This feature appeas to be a reaction to a parasite/predator attack

In life, fenestrate filled the opening between the "V" structure.
Similar to the fenestrate attached to the screw-like axis
of the bryozoan Archimedes.


The bryozoan genera Lyropora and Lyroporidra
(order Fenestrida, family Polyporidae) in Upper Mississippian
(Chesterian) rocks of eastern North America.
