Close-up 2 of algal mound flank facies, Worland Limestone

This close-up highlights the wrinkled algal plates that formed on the
mound. These are much more robust than the algal plates visible in the
other close-up (magnifications are approximately equal). The wrinkling
is probably original, so parts of the blades were somewhat elevated
above the sea floor while the algae were still living, and they made
numerous shelters where fine-grained sediment could accumulate.
